Canbus Interface for Front Sensors*

Front & Rear Sensors - Front Audio Alerts with Rear Dash Display - Description

What You Get

This kit gives you a Pro-Fit solution for complete protection when travelling both forwards and backwards in your vehicle. The 4 rear sensors activate when you select reverse gear and you will receive audio and visual alerts. The front sensors are manually controlled by a dash mounted switch (there is an upgrade option should you wish the front sensors to be automatically activated - see below). You will get audible alerts only on the front sensors that increase with frequency as your car nears an obstacle.

Kit Contents

  • 8 Recess Bumper Fit Sensors
  • 8 Sensor Wedges (use is optional)
  • 2 Control Units
  • 1 Buzzer Unit (Front Sensors Audio)
  • 1 Dash mounted Display (Rear sensor alerts inc audio)
  • 2 Cutting Tools FREE!
  • Fitting Accessories
  • Instruction Manual

How It Works

The system works by sending ultrasonic beams outwards from the vehicle. The beams are reflected by obstructions in front of and behind the vehicle depending on the direction of travel. The ultrasonic beams re-enter the sensors and information about the beams travel time is processed to calculate the distance of the obstruction.

The Dolphin rear unit is activated when reverse gear is engaged. When the vehicle is less than 1.5 metres from the obstruction the audible alert will emit intermittent bleeps, as you get closer to the obstruction the frequency of the bleeps increases. You will also be able to view on the dash mounted display how far away you are . At 30 centimetres from the obstruction the bleeps become a continuous solid tone.

Illuminating switch The front sensors come with an illuminated rocker switch to manually control the front sensors which can be mounted somewhere appropriate on your dashboard. You may want to visit the parts department of your local car dealer and get a switch that matches the others on your dashboard for a more original part "look". You will get an audible alert only for the front sensors and no digital reading (to get a digital reading as well as the audio allerts please see DPPK4)

For modern vehicles with CANbus electrics, instead of having the manual switching option. You can buy an Interface Module to pick up a speed reading from your cars engine management system which will switch the front sensors on when your speed drops to around 6mph or less. This CANbus Interface cost £49.99 and is compatible with these CANBUS cars.

The front sensors have extra long leads that will enable easy fitting around the engine bay.  The great thing about this set is because the 2 kits (front and rear) work independently from each other you do not have to trail cables all the way through the car.

Optional Wedges & Swap Socket Connectors
This system comes with optional angled wedges, giving greater flexibility according to the shape of your bumper.  The wedges can be used if your bumper is slightly angled up - or downwards, to ensure the sensor's signal is still sent out parallel with the road's surface.

Swap Socket Feature The Swap Socket connectors are watertight screw connectors 6 inches from the sensor head making initial installation easier and the replacement of sensor head should your bumper be damaged due to someone else poor driving or the unlikely event of a fault developing. This saves the cost and hassle of having to remove the bumper in order to facilitate replacement.

Technical Specification

Maintenance
No routine maintenance or adjustment is required. Dirt, frost or snow accumulated on the sensors may cause the system to activate incorrectly. The sensors can be washed carefully with warm soapy water.
